My goodness, how the winter is flying by...a little pun there, naturally! The holidays came and went and here in Central Iowa, we have had a very mild and nearly snow-free winter thus far. It hardly seems like the winters we are accustomed to. With February, it’s a safe bet that we are still likely to get a whollop of winter flying conditions over the next few weeks. So, don’t take off that winterization plate just yet. Wintertime can provide very nice flying conditions, with crisp, clear air that is often very smooth. But winter also poses its own set of flying challenges. Please visit here for some great tips on wintertime flying considerations.

The Boone Municipal Airport has much going on right now, with new upgrades to our ramp area ongoing. You can take a look via the Boone Airport “Skycam” on this home page. As always, many local and transient aircraft, skydiving activities and National Guard operations are taking advantage of some mild winter weather, so come out and watch a variety of aircraft using the airport. And, please stop on in for a fresh cup of coffee, cocoa or cider and some “hangar flying” with local pilots.

Wintertime is also a popular time for time for fly-in chili feeds and open house events. You can check the Iowa Department of Aviation’s calendar of events for state-wide flying events.

CY Aviation's Cherokee Archer was recently fitted with some exciting new avionics, including a Garmin 430 GPS and Aspen Pro 1000 Primary Flight Display. Give Connie a call to get the anticipated date of its return to rental/training availability.
