Welcome to CY Aviation and Boone Municipal Airport
H ooray... the robins have arrived back in central Iowa, so beautiful flying weather is sure to follow! March is a very transitional month in Iowa, with weather ranging from blizzards to temps in the 80s...maybe THAT’s where the term March Madness really comes from. But whatever the weather brings this month, the Boone Municipal Airport is a great place to observe local and transient aircraft, skydivers when weather permits, National Guard operations or to stop in for a fresh cup of coffee and some “hangar flying” with local pilots.
March is also a kickoff month for the NOAA Severe Weather Spotter Training classes going on around the state. Be sure to take one in. These free classes offer excellent reviews of severe weather development. This is very important for pilots to keep in mind as we enter into thunderstorm and tornado seasons. You can find class offerings on the National Weather Service website.
If you are gearing up for a new flying season, be sure to let us know if we can assist you with your currency requirements. We offer biennial flight reviews, IFR refresher training and TOL currency. And if your plane needs any spring maintenance, Bob Jones, our mechanic, is here to assist.
